After breakfast, set out on a fascinating boat safari through the Muthurajawela Wetlands, an ecological haven that stretches into Negombo Lagoon. Glide silently along the waterways as you spot a wealth of birdlife, including colourful kingfishers, graceful herons, and rare storks. With luck, you might also catch a glimpse of crocodiles basking in the sun, playful macaques in the treetops, and giant water monitors along the banks. This immersive nature experience also takes you along the historic Dutch Canal, once a major trading route. Visit the coastal city of Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Asia’s finest examples of a fortified colonial town. Founded by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later expanded by the Dutch, Galle Fort is a living monument, with cobbled streets, boutique shops, churches, and art galleries enclosed within its ramparts. Wander along the fort walls for sweeping views of the ocean before continuing east to Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s premier wildlife reserve. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel near the park.
Overnight Stay : Yala, Chaarya Resort & Spa or similar

Rise early for an exciting jeep safari in Yala National Park, a landscape of scrub jungle, lagoons, and grasslands. The park is world-renowned for having one of the highest densities of leopards in the world, but you may also encounter elephants, sloth bears, wild boar, spotted deer, and an abundance of bird species. After the safari and breakfast, travel into the central highlands to reach Ella, a picturesque hill-country village known for its tea plantations and dramatic mountain scenery. Dinner and overnight stay in Ella.

The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with chances to spot species like the Sri Lanka whistling thrush. Return briefly to Nuwara Eliya before heading to Kitulgala, a lush riverside village famous as the filming location for The Bridge on the River Kwai. Adventurers can try optional white-water rafting, while others may enjoy a gentle nature walk. Dinner and overnight stay in Kitulgala.
